Our Take

After Albania we went back to Montenegro to burn the last 90 days of our Schengen time-out. We had wanted to have a good summertime relaxation on the Budva Riviera, but it did not materialize. The BNB we got in Budva misrepresented their place and we fell victims to a ripoff. The picture and descriptin represened a close to the beach resort with a private bath and private kitchen. On arrival we got a tiny room with a run down private bath and a broken down refrigerator. The kitchen in the photos was a shared kitchen for all the units at the property. There was not even a chair or table to work from. I ended up spending many days at a nice local restaurant where they me let me plug in.

We did not have a car and therefore had to walk the 1.5 miles to the beach and back, which we did several times. We also visited Budva Old Town which is the oldest settlement in the Balkin’s.
We completely hated our time in the room because we felt trapped. In fact we left 6 days early to go and stay inland at a Winery.
The Djonovic Winery ended up being the highlight of our entire time on Montenegro. We rented a car for the last couple of weeks in Montenegro, and our first destination was the winery. We absolutely loved both the hosts and their family and friends. The winery accommodations were a 180 degree turnabout from our Bufvva experience. It was awesome and beautiful. We even attended a local annual harvest party at one of the neighbor’s and we were welcome guests. We completed our original itinerary at a farm located near the Podgorica Airport, where we would depart to our next destination, Florence Italy.
