We left Spain by bus and went over to Portugal, the Algarve. We first stayed for a few days in Tavira, right on the riverfront in a cute hotel. Then went to an Airbnb in town. Both were great.
Later we headed to the Lisbon area to meet some long time friends in Praia des Macus at a super Hotel/Restaurant. Then after a week or so we went to Lisbon for another week or so to prepare for our flight to Montenegro.

Our Take
Wow, we had a lot of great experience’s… We loved the little town of Tavira. It was quaint and not too touristy. We slow traveled there and really felt like we lived there. Unfortunately, for a couple of weeks, I was still fighting the sinus cold I picked up in Morocco. We met a lot of really nice people, travelers and locals. We took a train to Villa Real de Santa Antonio, for a Pirate festival.
We traveled up to Praia des Macus, at the beginning of June to meet up with our friends from Lisbon. The little town was a cool beach town, we enjoyed an open air concert at a surf shop, we rode the Beach tram to Sintra, really fun.
We had a great day with our friends from Lisbon at the nearby Restaurant Azenhas Do Mar.
Then went to Lisbon, which was immersed in about 5 different festivals in different parts of the city at the same time, each dedicated to a different saint. Love the Catholic’s. We had a ball.
