After a 12 hour drive we arrived in Travelers Rest South Carolina to the Rebirth Retreat Center. There we were graciously given a place to stay for a few months (eek). Â
Noah and Carla are perfect hosts but we don’t want to be guests, so we are trying to contribute to the effort in many ways.
Of course we went out to many meals but also spent time cooking together.  Noah took us to several of the local sights and hangouts. Â
Because we were relatively close to my daughter, Emma and Claude, in Richmond Virginia, we decided to make the 5 hour dive to visit both Emma and Claud, as well as our ling time friends, Dave and Kate. They were just hosting a holiday party, so the timing worked out. Because it was the holidays, Emma curated a “Tacky Christmas Lights” tour, it was unbelievable.
Once back from Virginia, then Tyler and Sam drove down to South Carolina to celebrate Christmas with the family, it was a great time.
We had a wonderful end to our 2024 experience. But it didn’t end there, stay tuned for 2025.

Our Take
We really love the area here in Travelers Rest. Noah has a piece of a large 12 acre parcel. It is possible that we might erect a tiny home on some of that property as a family legacy. But we must sell our Florida condo first.
Have had a great time in this area, it is basically in my Son’s backyard, 5 hours drive to either Emma and Claud in Richmond Va. or the same to Delaware where Tyler and Sam live.
Also we have other friends here, Camile and Daylan are in Durham and Mary Burke is in Charlotte. So, it turns out we relate more to here than to Florida.
